2022 Project List and Update

Hi, all! The saying New Year, new you has never had more meaning for me than it does this year. We have been so busy over the past few months, that I haven’t had a chance to post any updates. I’m currently playing catch up, but am ready for this new beginning. So, best news first- WE’VE MOVED! Crazy, I know…right?! Our starter home lasted for 8 years, and a million DIY projects, but it was time to get some more space (plus a few more upgrades ;)). So I need to start a WHOLE new 2022 project list.

Let’s start by reflecting on last year. Right before we moved, we did a lot of small projects around the house. These projects left us thinking…why didn’t we do this when we first moved in? We lived with A LOT of small things missing or broken because our house was a foreclosure. It didn’t take a lot of time or money to fix most of them. We should have done it sooner, so… lesson learned. The moment we moved into the new house, I got a head start on fixing the small annoying things. The saying stage your home to live in is brilliant!

2021 List Evaluation

First, let’s check off the 2021 list. the checkmark signals a completed project and the crossed-out projects no longer apply at the new house. All of the rest need to go on my 2022 project list.

  • update kitchen cabinets
  • update kitchen countertops
  • build diamond tufted wingback upholstered headboard
  • ✔ revamp coffee table
  • repair and paint kitchen table
  • build privacy fence around air conditioner and garbage cans
  • revitalize back yard and porch
  • build herb and vegetable garden
  • stain fence
  • fix concrete curbing
  • ✔ turn formal dining room into baby playroom

As you can see, I have a few projects that are still lingering from my previous year and house. I will definitely add those to the new list.

Before & After Pictures of Old House

If you know us, you know I have been dying to move for a while now. We lived in a great part of town, but we were too far away from family and friends and we were starting to outgrow our space. Plus, I have ALWAYS wanted a pool! I mean, I feel like if I’m going to live in Florida, I have to have one. This northern chick still has thick blood. 😉 We started searching for a house at the beginning of the pandemic but stopped when I fell pregnant.

After the baby came along, plus all of the stuff that comes with a baby, we knew that we needed more space pretty quickly. We could have held in for a few more years, but a house that was in a great location and met a lot of our wants came on the market. The Mr. and I went on a tour and put in an offer. A month later we were moving in and our starter home was under contract to be sold. In this crazy hot market, it only took 63 days to buy a new house AND sell our starter home.

I am pretty proud of how our old house turned out. Take a look at some pictures from before we moved in and when we sold it!

Blank slate, am I right?!

So after our whirlwind Holiday time, we have finally settled in and have completely unpacked! All great news! I have even done a few small projects already.  Most of the projects are new to the list, but some are lingering from last year/last house. Those are the projects, I’m going to try to get done first. We have some major renovations that we want to do very soon (knocking out a cabinet, cutting granite countertops, and removing a wall in the kitchen).  I can’t wait to get organized and get started.

2022 Project List

This year, I thought it would be easier to list projects by room! Some of them I plan on DIY-ing, and some I plan on buying and incorporating. Of course, there is NO WAY I am going to get around to completing all of the whole 2022 project list in a year, but a girl can dream.
